Steven Jones joined the KRIS 6 weather team as the morning meteorologist in October 2025 after coming from San Angelo, TX where he served as the weekend meteorologist.
He grew up in San Antonio and went to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to start school, so Corpus Christi isn’t a totally unfamiliar place to him. In fact, starting school in Corpus Christi when Hurricane Harvey came solidified Steven’s decision that weather was what he wanted to study in school and build a career in.
He finished his degree at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, before starting his first broadcast meteorologist position in San Angelo. In West Texas, he covered a range of weather events from winter weather with snow and icy roads to tornadoes and hail-filled supercell thunderstorms.
Now he’s excited to be back in Corpus Christi and cover all the weather in Corpus Christi and across the entire Coastal Bend!
