Matthew Roberts is from Zapata, Texas, and is a proud graduate of Zapata High School. Throughout the early stages of his life, he spent his time on stage with his school’s theatre department.
Matthew graduated from Texas A&M University–Kingsville in May 2026. During his time at TAMUK, he served as the sports and campus editor at The South Texan newspaper. During his junior year, he was named managing editor. He then took the reins as editor-in-chief for a few months before leaving the paper to start at KRIS 6 as a producer, before even graduating college.
Matthew is determined to tell the stories of those in the community and believes he is telling their stories, not his.
Outside of the newsroom, Matthew enjoys spending time with friends and keeping up with the UFC.
