Stefanie Lauber is an award-winning Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and Chief Meteorologist at KRIS 6 News, forecasting for the Coastal Bend since January 2021. She holds degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Mississippi State University. As a bilingual Latina meteorologist, she's passionate about serving the diverse Coastal Bend community. Stefanie is also a tropical weather expert, having tracked over a dozen storms in the studio and field.
Like many meteorologists, Stef's passion began in childhood. Born in New England, she was raised in Miami, Florida; her passion was sparked by a love of snow, hurricanes, and an ironic fear of thunderstorms. Before KRIS 6, she honed her skills in Florida, working for MyRadar Weather App in Orlando and WCJB-TV20 in Gainesville. She also worked as an Environmental Specialist for the City of Jacksonville, managing 40+ petroleum cleanup sites across Northeast Florida.
Stefanie believes the Coastal Bend offers some of the most fascinating weather in the country. She knew she wasn't alone and created the KRIS 6 Coastal Bend Weather Watchers Facebook group. When she's not forecasting, she enjoys life with her husband Jake (a fellow meteorologist, native Texan, and USMC veteran). They live in Corpus Christi with their three cats and two dogs (affectionately called "The Zoo") and her parents, who she recently convinced to become Texans, too!
