It's week 6 of the Friday Night Fever for high school football on KRIS 6! We have a lot of teams on bye this week, with the majority of the ones playing in district duels. Below you'll find a list of Coastal Bend highlights and scores.
The Angels (4-2) fell to Brentwood Christian 62-21 at home on Friday. They fell behind 27-0 in the first half and couldn't make up the deficit.
IWA did cut the lead to 13 after QB Sawyer Brown found Chapman Dodd deep downfield and then ran in a touchdown in the second quarter. Brown followed it up with a well-placed onside kick to get the ball back for the Angels.
Our Game Night South Texas live TV game between King and Calallen, which was a UIL 4A-DI District 15 game that got postponed from Thursday to Friday due to lightning delays. Calallen won 49-8, improving their record to (5-1, 2-0)
The Veterans Memorial Eagles improve their record to (5-1, 2-0) in UIL 5A-DI District 15 after taking down Weslaco East 41-7 at Buccaneer Stadium. Next week the Eagles face Carroll in what is possibly the district championship.
Our top play goes to Veterans Memorial senior running back Andrew Charlebois. His 60 yard touchdown catch and run was all power and speed down the sideline against Weslaco East.
Miller vs. Tuloso-Midway was also a UIL 4A-DI District 15 matchup. The Miller Buccaneers took an early lead and won 34-9. The Bucs are now (4-2, 2-0).
Moody vs. Beeville, the Trojan War, was also a UIL 4A-DI District 15 matchup. It was a close game early, but Beeville pulled away winning 17-6. They improved their record to (2-4, 1-1).
