CORPUS CHRISTI -- A woman who lives across the street from a house on the 6400 block of Clairefield says she called 911 a little after three Monday morning after hearing screams coming from her neighbor's house.

ROBSTOWN - Robstown police have identified a victim in a pedestrian accident Sunday night as Juan Llanas-Vasquez, 35, an illegal immigrant from Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Robstown police say they may never find out why Llanas decided to dart across Business 77; they can only speculate.

"Without any warning, without saying anything, he just ran across the road eastbound," Robstown officer Javier Aleman said.

CCORPUS CHRISTI - Members of the American GI Forum were back on active duty Monday morning.
Beginning at 7:00am, several of them stood guard outside Memorial Coliseum to make sure no one violated a temporary injunction issued Friday in Austin that prevents any demolition of the building.
They even called police after witnessing what they thought was a violation by demolition company crew.

Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested Play Video

CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi police have arrested a suspect in the March 4th holdup of the Texas Champion Bank in 5 Points.

Police say a tip to Crimestoppers led them to 39-year-old Alexander William Morgan, Jr.

He was arrested in Kingsville and faces a charge of aggravated robbery in connection with the bank heist.

Morgan's bond is set at $100,000.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A man who stabbed his infant child during a family barbecue has plead guilty to attempted capital murder.

As part of a plea deal 34-year-old Tone Johnson will serve 18 years in prison for the attack on his five-month-old son last summer.

Johnson was also sentenced to another 10 years for one charge of family violence.

His estranged wife says he has a history of assaulting her.

Their son fully recovered from his stab wounds.

City Responds To Halt On Coliseum Demolition Play Video

CORPUS CHRISTI - Former Nueces County district attorney Carlos Valdez will begin his first day as city attorney Tuesday.

Valdez says the first issue he wants to resolve is the legal action surrounding the demolition of the Memorial Coliseum.

The demolition was scheduled to start Monday, but a local group called "friends of the coliseum" has requested a temporary restraining order through an judge in Travis County.

The judge granted the restraining order last week.

ROBSTOWN - A suspected illegal immigrant was hit and killed by a driver in Robstown overnight.

Two men were walking along Highway 77 near K.C. Hall, when Robstown police say one of the men darted into the road.

One driver slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting the man, but a second driver didn't see him and hit him.

Police say the man, who was from Mexico, died at the scene.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A large party turned violent on the city's southside this morning, sending several people to the hospital with stab wounds.

Police say more than 20 people were involved in a fight and some of the victims are believed to be members of the Corpus Christi Hammerheads football team.

Jury Selection Begins In Tone Johnson Trial Play Video

CORPUS CHRISTI - Jury selection is underway for a man accused of stabbing his infant son last summer.

Tone Johnson, 33, is scheduled to go on trial Tuesday for attempted captial murder.

Investigators say Johnson stabbed his 5 month old son in the chest at a family barbecue back in July of 2009.

The infant has since recovered from his injuries.

CORPUS CHRISTI -- People crowded into St. Pius to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day a little early.

This was the Fifth Annual Irish Celebration and Brunch complete with authentic cuisine like Irish stew, soda bread, even green beer; as well as a performance by the Mo Cushla Irish dancers.

All of the money raised today will go towards the church's new youth center.

Driver Slams Into Another Vehicle

CORPUS CHRISTI -- A driver was caught off guard late last night when another vehicle slammed into the back of his car.

According to police, the driver was stopped at the red light at Airline and SPID, when another driver failed to notice the halt in traffic. That driver slammed into the other, smashing the front of his car. The driver that was hit was taken to the hospital with neck and back pains, while the other was given a citation for failure to control his speed.

Fire Crews Respond to House Fire

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Fire crews responded to a small house fire on Sherman Street early Sunday morning.

The fire department was able to knock out the flames in around 15 minutes. The home suffered minor damage and crews are still looking into the cause of the blaze. Fire officials say the residents were at home when the fire broke out, but fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire.
