AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas at Austin senior Reese Atwood entered Thursday's game against Abilene Christian tied for UT's career home run school record at 58. The Tuloso-Midway grad made history in the fourth inning.

Atwood blasted a shot deep over the left field wall for her 59th career bomb, lifting her above Taylor Hoagland's mark that stood since 2013. She helped Texas shutout Abilene Christian 11-0 in the Longhorns home opener. Atwood has 4 home runs in six games so far this season.

"It was just really cool to have my teammates celebrate me in that moment and wouldn't be here without them, so all props to them because they were able to keep me out of my head throughout the four years here," Atwood said. "Be able to keep me stable enough to be able to accomplish my goals. I'm so grateful for this team and the coaching staff."

During the interview, Atwood's teammates gave her the celebratory ice bath. She said this is a great accomplishment, but the Longhorn Legend's top goal is to win another National Championship as a senior with this team.
