The Texas Department of Transportation is reducing the speed limit on a coastal stretch of State Highway 361 near Port Aransas from 60 mph to 50 mph beginning Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The change affects the corridor between Park Road 22 and a point just south of Beach Access Road 1A.
Electronic message boards throughout the corridor will notify motorists of the upcoming change. Once the new speed limit takes effect, the boards will remind drivers of the 50 mph limit.
Drivers are urged to remain alert, obey posted speed limits and adjust their driving habits to help improve safety for all roadway users.
