It was a very hot start to our weekend here in the Coastal Bend. We set a new record high with 102 degrees this afternoon. The above average temperatures will stick around for at least one more day. We have remained on the very hot and dry side of Tropical Storm Barry. It moved onshore as a Category 1 hurricane this afternoon. It is bringing heavy rainfall across the Mississippi Valley. We will see limited impacts from the storm. The surf will be building tomorrow to 3 to 4 feet with a moderate risk of rip currents. We could also see a few pop up showers on both Sunday and Monday.
The forecast for tomorrow calls for partly sunny skies with an afternoon high around 99 degrees. The winds will shift to the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The heat index values will range from 105 to 109 degrees. A few isolated showers will also be possible on Monday. The remainder of the week will be sunny and hot. Look for daytime highs in the mid 90's with overnight lows in the upper 70's.
