CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We had a strong line of thunderstorms that rolled through the Coastal Bend early Saturday morning, bringing gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.

The downtown area picked up about an inch of rain. There is a lot of tropical moisture moving in from the Gulf. This will lead to on and off showers for much of Saturday. People are urged to use extreme caution when traveling on the roadways in and around these storms.

The forecast for Saturday calls for more showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall possible.

This will help to keep our daytime temperatures lower than the past few days as we are only looking for an afternoon high of 87 degrees.

The winds will be light out of the northeast. Tonight we can expect mostly cloudy skies with a few more showers. Look for an overnight low around 75 degrees.

It will be drying out and heating up for the remainder of the holiday weekend. Daytime highs will be in lower to mid 90s. And we can't rule out a stray shower.

However, the first real cold front of the season will arrive on Wednesday. This will lead to another round of showers midweek. It will also bring us cooler temperatures and plenty of sunshine for the latter half of the workweek.
