A Bit Drier Air Sunday

CORPUS CHRISTI — We started our holiday weekend with a few isolated showers that popped up across the Coastal Bend today. Some areas picked up more than a half an inch of rain. Our daytime high this afternoon was 96 degrees with the peak wind gust of 21 miles per hour. The forecast for tonight calls for partly cloudy skies with a stray shower possible. Look for an overnight low around 77 degrees. A little drier air is going to filter in for Sunday. Expect a daytime high around 96 degrees.

We are watching a tropical wave that is expected to move across the Gulf of Mexico the next several day. This will lead to increasing moisture next week. It's likely we will see isolated showers on Labor Day. They will become more widespread and numerous midweek. The Hurricane Center is watching for possible tropical development with this system. If a storm does develop... It will likely move inland south of the Coastal Bend. However, it is something we will need to watch closely.
