A.J. Dunn joined the Navy in October 1940. After being on leave for five days to do some Christmas shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941, Dunn returned to find bombs falling across the harbor.
188 Army Air Corps and Navy planes were destroyed that day. 128 Army and 31 planes were damaged, and 2,403 men and women were killed. Dunn survived. He passed away last week at the age of 98.
Dunn's funeral service was held at 11:30 this morning at Seaside Memorial Park.
