The Aransas Pass Police Department executed a search warrant early this evening at the Rahi Motel Cottages on Business Hwy. 35 between Aransas Pass and Rockport in connection with the murder of Rebecca Anne Maloney.

Police have not released the identity of the man they arrested Friday night, but did say he is a person of interest in Maloney's murder case.

The owner of the motel said the man police arrested manages and lives in the office of the complex, just north of Aransas Pass.

The warrant was carried out in unit 2 of the complex and the complex's office, where one man was arrested on charges unrelated to Maloney's death.

The APPD posted to its Facebook page Tuesday evening that a woman's body was found inside a metal container near the intersection of Railroad Street and Wheeler Ave. in Aransas Pass.

Over the next few days, the woman was identified as 29-year-old Rockport resident Rebecca Anne Maloney, and the container was identified as a large metal toolbox.

The APPD then put out a public appeal for anyone who might recognize the container, or know to whom it belongs.
