CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — County commissioners are one step closer to creating a fire marshal position to oversee Nueces County.
Today, commissioners approved a measure to go forward with considering the postiion.pending ongoing research.
As of right now, rural areas outside of the Corpus Christi city limits don't have a fire code.
The Annaville fire chief wants the commissioners to create that new position in order to establish county-wide code requirements.
That code and the new fire marshal would ensure that construction in outlying areas meets fire safety standards.
