CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new poll says half of Americans are putting their pets on their gift lists, planning to spend an average of $137 on their furry friends.

One pet owner says she is happy to spoil her fur baby this Christmas season.

"No budget, she just gets what she want," dog owner Marguerita Willett said.

A man's best friend is said to be a loyal companion, they would do anything for their owner and an owner would do anything for them.

A new study shows that included spending money on a pet than on themselves.

"You can see her stocking is the only one that's got stuff in it and that's her toys and treats and she's got some JB bakery dog treats in there," said Willett.

JB's German Bakery on the island is known for its delicious treats both for humans and dogs.

The dog biscuits contain the same ingredients as a regular cookie with less sugar according to Brigitte Kazenmayer, owner of JB's German Bakery. She says there is a high demand for the bone-shaped biscuit.

"They order the dog treats online and I have to ship them," she says.

Monica Hernandez, owner of Fancy Paws Boutique and Styling, says with Christmas just a few days away people are stopping by to get their fur babies primped and ready for Christmas Day.

"Five pounds to 20 pounds it's going be like $45 and it's going to include everything," said Hernandez.

Marguerita Willett took in a rescue dog 10 years ago and is proud to say she spoils her furry friend.

"It's like a family member, so you feed them, you bathe them, you take them to the doctor," Willett said.
