The Corpus Christi Police Officer who was hit by a drunk driver has been cleared to return to duty.
Officer Thomas Zirkle was directing traffic at the scene of an accident on December 23 when he was hit.
Orelvis Lopez, 24, was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle as a result of the accident.
Witnesses at the scene identified Lopez’ vehicle and when officer made contact, the reported a strong smell of alcohol coming from him.
