The first Presidential debate Tuesday night became a political science lesson for some local college students.
Dr. Anantha Babbili lectured for a half hour before dismissing his class of about 20 seniors for a break.
When they returned, the debate was starting, and students were eager to hear what the candidates had to say.
“(I) hopefully (find out) more background on both candidates a little bit," Francisco Lopez said. "(I also want to find out) what they want to do, what they have planned."
The class is called Media and the Making of a President. That's significant, because most -- if not all -- of the students will be voting for a president for the very first time.
“Last election it was more just watching," Lopez said. "Now I get to participate and, you know, it’s pretty cool.”
