CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The memory of David Freeman will be honored every time a Flour Bluff Hornet puts on a football helmet this season.

The Flour Bluff Independent School District's athletic department announced via Facebook that students would wear Freeman's initials and the season would be dedicated in his memory.

Freeman died in August of COVID-19-related complications, Nueces County health officials said.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.
