HEBBRONVILLE, Texas — Hebbronville senior Dylan Holbein took the court Tuesday night against San Diego just 16 points away from 1,000 career points.
Holbein reached the milestone in the third quarter. Hebbronville was down 29-24. He dribbled in the paint, split defenders and made the bucket while getting the foul. Holbein then made the free throw, and during that 3-point play is when the senior hit 1,000 points.
"It feels great. Took a long journey," said Holbein. "I just want to thank my teammates and my coaches. They taught me very well. They taught me how to play the game right. I'm very grateful and I love my mom."
Hebbronville went on to defeat San Diego 51-42. This season, Holbein has averaged 22 points per game against UIL District 30-3A opponents.
