If you’re on the Keto diet or watching your carbs and sugar, snacking can be pretty difficult. Pretty much anything you’d find in a vending machine is off-limits — and even many of the foods you can pack for yourself are loaded with carbs and sugar.
If you don’t love chips and cookies and meat snacks are your go-to, we have some news for you. Zero sugar jerky exists! Plus, it is still packed with protein to tide you over until lunch or dinner (no food dehydrator required!).
Jack Link’s, a brand jerky lovers surely know, officially rolled out its first-ever sugar-free option nationwide in May. Jack Link’s Zero Sugar Jerky is inspired by the original Link family recipe, so it features the same great flavor — just without added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Made with 100% beef, it also has no added MSG, nitrates or preservatives, 1 gram of carbs per serving and a whopping 30 grams of protein per bag.
You can find Jack Link’s new sugar-free jerky at select Walmart and Meijer locations or on Jack Link’s website. The suggested retail price starts at $5.99 for a 2.3 oz. bag and $7.99 for 4.7 oz. bags.
Jack Link’s says consumers have been asking them for a no-sugar option and that this product is ideal for certain diets.
“Shoppers are increasingly ingredient-conscious and seek snack experiences that fit within evolving dietary preferences and personal goals,” the company said in a press release. “Over 57% of consumers are actively working to reduce or eliminate sugar from their diets and more than 51% of consumers comply with a special diet, like Keto, Paleo or diabetic.”
Jack Link’s is not the only brand that has created zero sugar jerky, however. Tillamook Country Smoker also makes keto-friendly beef jerky, which you can buy on Amazon for $8.75 per bag. Tillamook’s jerky has no sugar, no carbs and 14 grams of protein per serving.
Other sugar-free jerky brands include People’s Choice, Keto Carne and Ayoba-Yo Biltong. These can also be found on Amazon.
If you’re trying to cut down on sugar, this could be a great option for you, because we all know that jerky makes the perfect snack for road trips or just hanging outside during the summer months. Will you be adding Jack Link’s sugar-free jerky to your kitchen?
