CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We have a windy and chilly start to the day for those living along the coastal regions, Corpus Christi included, as temperatures have fallen into the low 50s with winds sustained around 15-25 mph.

It's a chilly to cold start inland too, with many communities in the upper 40s, but there is substantially less wind.

Cool high pressure will begin to settle into the region later today and that will relax our pressure gradient in the atmosphere, resulting in less wind area-wide and lots of sunshine.

Afternoon high temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 60s to low 70s for many. It should be a beautiful day indeed!

Tonight, we'll call for calm, clear and cold conditions with overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Here in Corpus Christi, we'll go for an overnight low of 39 with a light northeasterly wind around 4-8 mph.

Winds will turn southeasterly by Tuesday and result in humidity returning to the area, along with a few more clouds and warmer temperatures.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature windy southeasterly conditions around 15-25 mph and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s on Thursday. This will be in advance of a cold front that is forecast to arrive late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

With frontal passage, we could see a stray to isolated shower, but many of us will remain dry as the higher rainfall opportunity stays well north of South Texas.

Behind the front, cooler and drier temperatures will filter in with highs back near seasonal in the upper 60s for Friday afternoon.

A reinforcing shot of some arctic air is also being hinted by some weather forecast models. That looks to arrive late Saturday and into early Sunday morning just in time for Super Sunday.

However, those models have not been consistent with that data just yet. For now, we'll go with a blend with highs in the 60s for the weekend and lows in the 40s.

And if the arctic air does make it all the way down, we'll substitute highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Stay tuned!

Have a great day!
