Weak front stalls tonight; hot temps return tomorrow

The weak frontal boundary that was in north Texas yesterday has made it all the way down into South Texas and is beginning to weaken substantially.  We’ve had a few showers here in the Coastal Bend, but they have been very stray in nature with the lion-share of the rain up to the northeast.  As the front continues to wash out over our region, it will continue to bring an opportunity for some isolated thundershowers later this evening and into the early morning hours.  Once the initial activity goes through, drier air will start to filter in and our rain chances will subside. We’ll still see a small window for a few pockets of heavy rain delivering a quarter to half inch of rain for some spots, favoring closer to the coast.

By tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, the sunshine will be in full force and it will be very hot with highs shooting up in the upper-90s with northerly winds veering over to the east-northeast around 10-15MPH.

This will carry over into Thursday with dry air and calm conditions Thursday morning.  This could send our morning low’s temperatures into the upper 60s to low 70s!  Again, a rare treat for July!  High pressure off to our west begins to build back in for the afternoon and we’ll be pushing temperatures near 100 degrees in the city of Corpus Christi.  Triple digits are likely for our inland communities.   Be careful outdoors and stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.  Also, don’t forget pets and make sure they have water and some shade to beat the heat.

Humidity will slowly begin to rise on Saturday, but still should stay sunny and hot.

A weak tropical wave will move closer to the Coastal Bend from the Gulf and interact with the afternoon seabreeze to deliver at least stray to isolated showers and thundershowers in the afternoon.  Not everyone will participate in the rain, but the showers will be around.  Also count on the heat staying with us too.
