CORPUS CHRISTI — After a brief stint of some Fall weather in South Texas, the humidity and temperatures are slowly back on the increase. The cold front that brought us the significant, and very noticeable, cool down is now retreating back to the north as a warm front.

Tonight, as the warm front progresses northward through the area, we'll see some isolated showers favoring mainly the coastal areas. The heaviest of the activity will remain offshore. Otherwise, mainly cloudy skies will dominate with some light drizzle spots, milder temperatures and overnight lows in the low 70s. Wind: ESE 4-8 MPH

Monday we'll start with mainly cloudy skies, a few of those coastal isolated showers and then a slow reduction in cloud coverage with hot afternoon high temperatures in the low 90s. High: 91 Winds: SE 10-15 MPH

The next cold front we'll be tracking will be moving through the Rockies by Monday afternoon and that will bring a surge of moisture into South Texas. This is why we'll forecast highs in the low 90s on Monday and even hotter on Tuesday with a good mix of clouds and sun, very humid conditions and an afternoon high of 94. The record high on Tuesday is 96, which is close to what we're forecasting, so we'll have to monitor that closely. Either way, if you work outdoors be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to avoid heat exhaustion.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday is when we expect the cold front to arrive here in the Coastal Bend, before noon. It will be accompanied by a line of scattered showers and thundershowers. This front is most certainly weaker than the last cold front we had, but it will bring in some slightly drier air and take our afternoon highs from the mid 90s on Tuesday to the upper 70s to low 80s on Wednesday afternoon.

East-southeasterly winds to eventually southeasterly winds will quickly return by Thursday and into Friday and that means afternoon highs will go back into the mid to upper 80s for the end of the week. Humidity will return and Saturday the high will be close to 90.

As of now, the next stronger front looks to arrive late next Sunday and into Monday. However, being 7-days out, we'll have to closely track that and pin down timing as we get closer.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the roller-coaster of temperatures in the forecast!
