CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's going to get hotter as we head into the weekend with oppressive heat as the humidity remains high.

The "heat dome" or high-pressure area aloft will expand, keeping us in a rain-free weather pattern for the next 7 days with above-average temperatures.

Today and Friday look partly cloudy, hot, humid, and breezy. Inland areas will reach near 100 with Corpus Christi in the low to mid-90s and the coast near 90. Heat indices will reach 105 to 114 as southeast winds increase to 20 mph by late afternoon.

The sweltering heat will build across the Coastal Bend this weekend with mostly sunny skies.

High temperatures will reach 101-105 Inland to the upper 90s in Corpus Christi and low 90s coast. Heat indices will reach 105-110 with southeast winds at 10-20 mph.
