CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Howling winds across the Coastal Bend are making for a bad hair day today.

We'll have an increasing chance for showers and a few thunderstorms are possible tonight.

A cold front will plow into the region tonight with a line of storms arriving here after midnight.

Areas north of Corpus Christi will see more significant thunder and lightning. Especially over the Victoria area and into Houston. But we could see a stray thunderstorm across the area.

All of South Texas remains under a gale warning until 2 a.m. Saturday and a fire weather watch will be in place until 4 p.m. Saturday because of the high winds.

After the front arrives, a strong and dry north wind will blow through. It will provide clear skies and cooler temperatures throughout the weekend.

Today: Cloudy with showers. Thunderstorms possible tonight. High 78.

Tonight: Thunderstorms likely with heaviest rain north of Corpus Christi. Expect thunder and lightning. Low 54.

Saturday: Clearing skies early. Gusty north winds. Sunny and cooler. High 64.

Sunday: Sunny, breezy and cool. High 68.

Monday: Partly cloudy and not as cool. High 72.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy and warmer. High 76.
