CORPUS CHRISTI — The winds were on the elevated side across the area today with gusts over 30 MPH for many locations. This is due to deepening low pressure up in the Panhandle and into the Central Plains.

The record low temperatures that we observed last week, with an early season-weak cold front, is most certainly gone and as winds gust in the area it is pumping in lots of Gulf moisture back into the Coastal Bend.

For tonight, the winds and high humidity will stay with us. So we'll look for overnight lows mainly in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Winds: SSE 8-16 MPH

We'll begin the work week with the gusty south-southeasterly winds around 15-25 MPH and only a passing seabreeze/daytime heating shower. Many of us will stay dry as upper-level high pressure dominated our forecast. Monday High: 95 Winds: SSE 15-25 MPH

On Tuesday, the winds will begin to relax some, but it'll still be on the breezy side. They'll subside even more on Wednesday, and that presents our best opportunity to see a stray to isolated shower as the winds come down and good low-level moisture remains in place. At best a few spotty locations could pick up around a quarter to half inch of rain.

All of us could certainly use more shower activity as we have been hovering around 5 inches of rain below normal for this time of year at Corpus Christi International.

With upper-level high pressure dominating our weather pattern for much of the week, highs will stay in the middle to upper 90s with heat indices around 100-110. Be sure to stay hydrated and seek the shaded spots frequently. Also, aside from a few small showers along the seabreeze (beginning in the Gulf and moving inland during the peak heating of the day), we're going to dig further in our rainfall deficit and drought conditions will continue to spread.
