CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — While a persistent upper level high brings another weekend with extreme heat and humidity to the Coastal Bend, a pattern shift will allow slightly lower temperatures and rain chances for much of next week.

Rainfall amounts will be less than half an inch, but any rainfall is welcome.

Temperatures will soar into the upper 90s to lower triple digits Sunday and Monday, with heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees. However, the upper level high moves into the Great Basin early next week and allows a cold front into South Texas by Monday night.

That front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms through midday on Tuesday.

Isolated showers can be expected Wednesday and Thursday, with another round of overnight showers and thunderstorms Friday night into early Saturday.

Highs in the upper 90s early week will drop back into the middle 90s Tuesday through Saturday. Lows in the upper 70s early week will ease back to the middle 70s Tuesday through Saturday.
