CORPUS CHRISTI — It is feeling more like a summer weekend in South Texas with afternoon highs well above average, in the 90s, plenty of wind and lots of humidity.
This, however, is in response to our next little cold front that is taking shape near the 4-Corners area today and will continue to push south through Texas tonight and arrive here in the Coastal Bend around midday Monday.
Tonight, we'll hold on to plenty of clouds. Most of them streaming in our area from Mexico from what now is Tropical Depression Priscilla. The winds will relax somewhat and it's still going to be mild and humid with a low in the middle 70s. Wind: S 10-15 MPH.
We'll be keeping an eye on the next cold front as mentioned before as it is forecast to have a line of showers and thunderstorms accompanying the boundary. Here in South Texas, we'll be on the tail-end and only a few isolated thunderstorms will be expected. The bulk of the activity, some heavier and possibly severe storms, is expected to stay to our northeast and move primarily into the Gulf of Mexico. We'll have to monitor its progression very closely.
Once the boundary passes by, drier and slightly cooler air will move in behind it and we'll also begin to clear out.
Look for plenty of sunshine on Tuesday with a high in the low 80s, fairly seasonal for this time of year, after starting off in the low 60s.
Wednesday and Thursday we'll see a few more clouds and humidity will start to ease back up close to the 70s.
On Thursday afternoon and into the evening, a much stronger cold front will be sweeping the Coastal Bend with another opportunity for some thunderstorms which are forecast to be scattered in nature. Winds will increase rapidly from the north around 15-25MPH with gusts closer to 30-35. This front will give us a direct northerly shot of some Canadian air and we'll see highs in the 70s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning and Sunday morning we could also dip into the upper 40s to low 50s.
Have a great week and enjoy yet another roller coaster ride of temperatures headed our way again this week.
