CORPUS CHRISTI — Over the last several days we've been on the "dry" side of Barry with a lot of subsidence moving over South Texas. This resulted in temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s to end out last week. As Barry moved closer to the coastline and into Louisiana, we've picked up some cloud coverage and a few thundershowers, but nothing like some of the devastating rainfall some locations have received in Barry's path.

Barry was downgraded to a Tropical Depression this afternoon with maximum sustained winds of 35MPH moving to north at 9MPH. Heavy rainfall and flooding will continue to be the biggest threat that Barry will bring to those in its path.

The few thundershowers that were around here were certainly a welcomed sight to beat the heat, but in addition we could very much use the rainfall for many locations.

We'll have another shot at some tropical showers coming down into the Coastal Bend on Monday, but they will be very isolated in nature and most of us will stay blazing hot and dry.

For tonight we'll hold on to partly cloudy skies and very warm and humid conditions with lows in the upper 70s. Winds: S 6-12 MPH

Monday will feature a decent mix of clouds and sun, favoring more sun, and a few isolated thundershowers in the area. Highs will still be scorching hot with a high of 98 forecast here in Corpus Christi. Heat indices will push 106-112 for many locations.

By Tuesday and for the rest of the week, upper-level high pressure will take over the forecast once again and that will promote good sunshine and hot temperatures in the 90s.

Winds will also increase in response to deepening low pressure to our north so expect our south-southeasterly winds to stay elevated around 15-25MPH and gusting each day beginning Tuesday through Saturday.

Stay cool and hydrated by drinking plenty of water if you work outdoors for extended periods of time.
