CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Courtesy of Monday's cold front, we've had a dynamite day here in South Texas on Tuesday with plenty of sunshine and low humidity.
Over the next couple of days, surface high pressure will slide to our east and give us a return flow coming off the Gulf of Mexico. That will bring humidity levels back up, warm the temperatures and also throw more clouds our way.
This will especially be true by Thursday when a strong cold front enters the state. As it rides south and get closer to our area by Thursday evening and into early Friday morning, we'll look for some scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Some storms could get severe so we'll monitor that chance very closely. Otherwise it'll bring us our best rain chance for the next seven days, with some locations picking up more than one inch of rain. On average, we'll aim for more of a quarter to half inch. Any rain would be very beneficial!
For tonight, look for cool and tranquil conditions with an overnight low of 62 so not quite as cool as it was this morning. Wind: E 5-10 MPH
Wednesday there will still be a fair amount of sunshine, but temperatures will head above normal and inland areas will reach the low 90s while we aim for 87 in Corpus Christi. Wind: ESE 15-20 MPH
Thursday will be a transitional day and it'll last through early Friday morning.
By Friday afternoon it will be windy with clearing skies and cooler and drier air will be moving in. Highs over the weekend will be in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
