CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Once again, the powerful upper level ridge over the Southern U.S. is bringing widespread excessive heat, prompting advisories and warnings from Arizona to the Deep South.

For the Coastal Bend, the heat will abate only slightly toward the end of the week, when the high shifts northwest.

Expect heat index values between 110 and 116 this afternoon over all but the barrier islands, where a sea breeze will give some relief.

Later in the week the upper level high relocates far enough northwest to allow deep tropical flow into the Middle Texas Coast, bringing the possibility of a few coastal showers Friday and Saturday.

Highs will dip slightly from the upper 90s early week to the middle 90s late week. Lows will remain in the middle to upper 70s.
