CORPUS CHRISTI — Deepening low pressure up into the northern parts of the state is tightening up the pressure gradient here in the Coastal Bend. The result is winds once again topping out at or near 30 MPH this afternoon for many locations. There is actually a weak front up in the Panhandle, but our strong southerly flow coming in off the Gulf will keep that from coming all the way down South and push it back to the north as a warm front.

One thing that we have plenty of here in the Coastal Bend is heat and humidity. That is not going to be going away any time soon.

With the daytime heating of each afternoon and with all the moisture streaming into the area off the Gulf, we cannot rule out a stray shower or two. Although most of us will stay dry, those showers will be tropical in nature and where they do form could drop heavy amounts of rain in a short amount of time along with strong wind. However, they will not last very long.

We'll see an increase in activity to isolated as a weak and minor disturbance swings around the dome of high pressure that is currently to the northwest of us. This will present our best shot at some rainfall for the entire area. There will be spotty locations that could pick up a half inch or three-quarters of an inch of rain.

For tonight though, we'll be steamy and warm with a few clouds moving in by morning with a low 78. Winds: SSE 5-10 MPH

Tuesday will be very hot as winds calm down out of the southeast around 10-18MPH. Look for an afternoon high of 98 here in Corpus Christi and the low 100's for our inland communities.

Wednesday the highs will come down with a little extra clouds and a few showers, but after that highs in the middle to upper 90s will be common with heat indices around 100-110 each day for the rest of the week and right on into the weekend.
