CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Our string of nice Coastal Bend weather, in the way of below normal temperatures and lots of sunshine, will come tumbling down today as moisture begins to increase off shifting winds that will turn off the Gulf of Mexico today.
That means more clouds and milder temperatures in the forecast for the weekend.
Today won't be nearly as nice as previous days with increasing cloudiness and a breezy southeasterly wind around 10-20 mph that will gust slightly higher at times. By this afternoon, clouds will dominate the area and we could even begin to pick up some stray light showers and sprinkles. Expect a high of 73 today in Corpus Christi with upper 60s to low 70s for much of the area.
Tonight, humidity will be high so more muggy conditions and not nearly as cool with an overnight low of 60 with some sprinkles still lingering in the region.
On Saturday, a Pacific cold front will begin pushing into the area and result in more isolated showers. We're not looking for a ton of rainfall, but some areas could pick up a few tenths of an inch of rain by the time the front clears out Saturday evening.
Sunday and into early next week, the clouds will thin out and we'll have cool mornings and rather mild afternoons as we go above normal with those highs in the low to mid 70s.
Looking ahead towards Christmas Eve, it appears that a strong cold front will arrive Wednesday night. It will kick up highs to near 80 Wednesday afternoon, but once it moves on by Christmas Eve morning we'll have lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s with only a few showers with frontal passage and then clearing will occur.
So, as we warm up early next week, it looks like it will cool down just in time for the Christmas holidays.
