CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The hot weather will continue for the next few days, but chances for rain will be improving by the weekend.

It will remain sunny and humid the next couple of days with heat indices approaching dangerous levels like 107 today.

But there is a chance for a drop to get our temperatures back into the expected range for August as the week continues.

At least a breeze should make conditions a little more comfortable today.

There is a fire danger for southwest Texas in Maverick, Duval and parts of Jim Wells counties. Be cautious with any open flames because of the extremely drive conditions there.

But fortunately, by Thursday and Friday a large high pressure system hovering over the state will move west, pushing the blast of hot air away and opening gulf breezes. And with a little luck, we might see a chance for isolated showers across the area as the week continues.

Today: Hot and humid. High 97. Low 80.

Wednesday: Hot and humid. High 97. Low 78.

Thursday: Still blazing. High 95. Low 79.

Friday: Increasing chance of isolated showers. High 94. Low 78.

Saturday: Possible isolated showers. High 94. Low 76.
