CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — High pressure is settling into Texas and we are going to see a couple of beautiful days here in the Coastal Bend because of it.
The cold front that moved into the area last night has reinforced a cool air mass and we'll see afternoon highs today only make the 50s and 60s under clear skies and sunshine.
Winds, at times, have been on the gusty side but as we go throughout the day, the breezes will begin to relax and calm down. Still, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. for the bays and offshore waters of the Coastal Bend.
What little warmth we get this afternoon will quickly escape off into the atmosphere and we'll have good radiational cooling take place tonight with the clear skies and lighter winds.
Our inland communities will see a light freeze and some frost early tomorrow morning as temperatures dip a degree or two below freezing for a couple of hours. Protect sensitive vegetation and outdoor pets.
In Corpus Christi, we'll stop just shy of the freezing mark of 32 degrees, as we go with a forecasted low of 34.
Thursday we'll see the temperatures start to increase. Afternoon highs will make it back into the mid-60s and we go up even further on Friday into the 70s where winds will increase out of the south-southeast around 15-25 mph.
More wind means we'll begin to pick up more clouds and even a few isolated showers ahead of the next cold front that is forecast to arrive around midday on Saturday.
It's still not looking like a big washout, but it presents our best chance of some rainfall in the next seven days. Again, we'll be on the tail end of the cold front and moisture will be limited so rainfall amounts will generally stay below a quarter of an inch.
The front on Saturday is not strong and we'll only see temperatures drop a few degrees on Sunday in the 60s, they'll quickly recuperate back into the 70s early next week with a good amount of clouds still lingering in the area.
