Staying cloudy, humid & warm

We had a good start to the weekend with some spotty sunshine making Saturday a Spring Breaker’s delight in the Coastal Bend.  However, a weak front has stalled in south-central Texas and moisture is piling over the region and mainly cloudy skies have taken over.  Humidity is on the increase so sea fog will again stay with us for the next couple of night.

So for tonight expect mainly cloudy skies, very humid conditions and some dense patchy fog. Visibility of a mile or less will be common throughout the Coastal Bend.  Low: 69  Wind: ESE 5-10 MPH

Monday will feature plenty of clouds and warm, but near seasonal, temperatures.  A few light showers cannot be ruled out either.  High: 77 Wind: ESE 7-14 MPH

A strong storm system, and an associated Pacific front, will begin to pass Baja California and head west in our direction by Monday afternoon.

This will ensure that we keep southwesterly winds aloft and plenty of Pacific moisture riding over Texas.

As the front reaches parts of West Texas by Tuesday evening, showers and thunderstorms will fire up along the boundary.  Some of the storms may go severe with a few supercells likely.  This will be far removed from the Coastal Bend, but if you have travel plans up north from Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon, it will be a good idea to keep updated with the forecast.

We’ll be on the southern edge of the stormy weather to our north late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.  A few thundershowers will be possible in our area with strong wind, hail and heavy downpours as the primary threats.  Once the threat of severe weather pushes into East Texas, we’ll clear out some with some late day sunshine on Wednesday breaking through.

A reinforcing front will move in by early Thursday morning and that will usher is some cooler and drier air for the end of the week.  Highs will drop into the 60s with lows in the 40s and 50s.  Clouds will hold strong though into the weekend with a few showers on Saturday.

Have a great week!
