Chilly tonight, clouds and drizzle back in the forecast this week

The weekend here in the Coastal Bend was not bad at all, great for some outdoor activities.  We had a frontal boundary move through the area early this morning and that helped to push out the fog and light showers that were in the area.  Despite that front we managed the upper 70s, way above normal for this time of year, and a hundredth of an inch of rain officially out at the Corpus Christi International Airport.

Clouds will slowly start to increase later tonight and early tomorrow morning.  It will still allow good radiational cooling to occur and temperatures will drop to chilly levels, especially inland.  We’ll look for a low around 48 degrees in the city.  Winds: NE 10-20 MPH

Increasing cloudiness will be evident by tomorrow afternoon and those clouds will keep cool air trapped at the surface as warm air rides aloft in the atmosphere, creating that overrunning pattern.  Eventually the combination will result in spotty drizzle in the Coastal Bend.  Highs Monday will struggle to top the upper 50s.

A weak reinforcing front, mainly high pressure settling father south from the north, will bump temperatures back down to the lower 60s on Wednesday, after achieving the upper 60s on Tuesday, and give way to another round of some light rain and drizzle.  Rainfall amounts the next several days looks to average a few tenths with the highest amounts around a quarter to half inch of some rainfall.

We maintain cloudy skies through the rest of the week, but temperatures will also warm back up into the lower 70s by Friday and Saturday ahead of the next frontal boundary that will arrive Saturday night with a few showers and sending temperatures back into the 50s by Sunday morning.

Have a great week!
