We had a very nice day in the Coastal Bend, as long as you didn’t mind the milder temperatures in the lower 70s and the winds that gusted at 35 MPH out at Corpus Christi International.

There is deepening low pressure that is making its way through the Rockies and that will keep the pressure gradient tight here in South Texas and keep our winds elevated through Wednesday.  Small craft advisories are posted for the nearshore and offshore waters; boaters and mariners should exercise caution for the next few days.

For tonight, temperatures won’t be nearly as chilly as they were this morning as we bottom out in the upper 50s.  Winds:  S 10-20 MPH

Tuesday will be even warmer with highs in the upper 70s, inland areas could reach the 80 degree point.  Winds will be out of the south-southeast around 15-25 MPH with gusts in the 30-35 MPH range.

Late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, our next round of cold air will arrive with a cold front moving through the region with scattered showers and thundershowers along the boundary.  These showers will linger through the late morning hours on Wednesday before we start to clear out and drier air filters in for the afternoon leaving us with mainly sunny skies and highs only in the middle 50s.

Wednesday night and Thursday morning will be the coldest day as we bottom out at 34 here in the city of Corpus Christi and a light freeze possible for our northern and inland counties.  Temperatures will hover at or just below freezing for a few hours.

A few reinforcing fronts will arrive early Friday and then again on Sunday.  This will keep lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s and will essentially just be high pressure systems ushering in the already cool air that’ll be in place from the front on Wednesday morning.  Another strong front looks to arrive Monday night and into Tuesday morning of next week.  That’ll increase winds again and bring us another shot of some showers.
