Temperatures still started on the cool side this morning as overnight lows dipped into the upper 40s to lower 50s in the Coastal Bend.

Winds took more of a southeasterly turn on this Christmas Eve and that is going to continue to drive the moisture in the air up and keep things pretty muggy and warm here over the next couple of days.

For Christmas Eve night, some patchy dense fog will be possible reducing visibility around 0-2 miles for inland areas and around 2-4 miles along the coastline.  Residents are urged to use caution on their commutes when fog is present and utilize low beam headlights to navigate.  Otherwise, mainly cloudy and muggy with lows in the upper 50s.  Wind: SSE 5-10MPH

Christmas Day will feature another round of above normal temperatures with a high around 78 in Corpus Christi.  An upper-level storm system will approach from the west and begin to increase winds here and also a few stray showers will be possible.  Winds: SE 10-20MPH

Wednesday will be the windiest day with south-southeasterly winds around 20-30MPH sustained and gusts approaching 35+MPH.  The associated surface cold front will move by late Wednesday and into Thursday morning with a line of showers and storms possible.  Most of the severe weather will stay north of  Coastal Bend, but one or two storms and a rumble of thunder will be possible.

We’ll clear out some on Thursday and Friday, highs will stay in the 70s.

The next front arrives late Saturday and we’ll cloud right back up with some light showers staying in the region.  Highs will fall to the 50s with lows in the 40s on Sunday and Monday, New Year’s Eve.

Happy Holidays!
