Some drier air filters into South Texas, still hot though

A weak frontal boundary moved through the Coastal Bend early this morning and dropped some spotty rainfall amounts between 1-3 inches for those under the stronger storms.  That activity is going to be pushing offshore today and some drier air will filter in, but afternoon highs will stay rather hot and above normal.

For today look for sunshine to return in full force by the early afternoon hours with a high of 90 and a northeasterly wind around 10-15MPH.

Tonight will be mainly clear and cooler with lows dropping into the upper 60s.

Thursday through Friday we’ll see lots of sun with above normal temperatures staying with us as highs reach near 90.  The humidity and dewpoints will still be less, so it won’t feel quite as hot as we are used to.

Saturday the winds increase here as remnants of Sergio, now in the Pacific, will enter northern parts of the state.  We’ll see some clouds increase too, but temperatures remain hot in the lower 90s.

Sunday and going into Sunday night will be a big transition as a strong cold front will ride south through Texas bringing us a taste of Fall.  The front is forecast to move through the Coastal Bend Sunday overnight and into Monday morning.  Strong northerly winds will take over around 15-25MPH with moderate to heavy thundershowers.  On Monday afternoon it will be mainly cloudy/overcast, windy and quite cooler with highs struggling to get out of the low 70s.

Hurricane Michael has now reached Category 4 strength and will make landfall in the Florida Panhandle around midday today with no direct impacts to South Texas.  The remainder of the Atlantic is still fairly active with Leslie reaching hurricane status again and newly formed Tropical Storm Nadine far out in the western Atlantic.  Neither of these storms are expected to have an impact to the U.S. at this time.
