Summer heat sticking around

Upper-level high pressure will continue to be a dominant factor in our weather pattern for the rest of the week.  This means that skies will be mostly clear, with the exception of a few morning clouds, and that temperatures will get a bit over seasonal average through the first half of the weekend.

A frontal boundary did its best to try to push through the state this week, but the high is bumping that front eastward and not allowing it to progress south and in our direction.  Consequently, the rain and “slightly cooler” air that was associated with the front will come nowhere near the Coastal Bend.

So for tonight, look for a few clouds to build in by the morning hours with muggy and mild temperatures in the middle to upper 70s.  Winds: SSE 4-8MPH

Wednesday, and for the rest of the week, will feature plenty of afternoon sunshine.  Outside of a rough seabreeze shower that will bring a few lucky residents a brief downpour, most of us will stay dry and baking hot.  Look for highs to be in the upper 90s near the coast and low 100s for our inland communities.

A year ago, Harvey was getting its act together and crossing the Yucatan as a tropical wave.  Here in South Texas, preparations were about to get underway.  Thankfully, today, the tropical Atlantic is very quiet along with the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.  No development is expected over the next 5-days.  Powerful category 4 Hurricane Lane over in the Pacific will cause some major problems for the Hawaiian Islands for the remainder of the week and into the weekend before moving off to the west.

Stay cool and have a great week.
