ARANSAS COUNTY, TX — More than a hundred volunteers from across the country were in Aransas County today to plant trees.
The non-profit group called RETREET, a disaster relief group, traveled to the Coastal Bend to plant trees lost to Hurricane Harvey.
The group replanted trees in Port Aransas last year and today 170 trees were planted at 88 sites across Aransas County.
The group says they have received over 270 requests.
"They're planting 85 live oak's, 30 Cedar Elms, and 55 wax myrtles; all native species that were taken from an approved tree list that was provided by the Texas forest service," said Grady McGahan of RETREET.
The Home Depot Foundation helped pay for today's event.
