PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS — A local veteran has a unique offer for a fellow veteran in need.

Port Aransas resident Richard Titus served two years in the U.S. Navy. Recently, his friend, Ken Vaughn passed away shortly after Vaughn received a brand new prosthetic leg.

The leg, a right leg, was waiting to be fitted and was never used. Titus wants to give it to someone who is in need of a leg and has had a hard time getting one.

“Somebody’s got to have a use for this $20,000 leg, or how ever much not costs, I know it’s a very expensive leg,” said Titus. “I can’t throw it away, somebody needs a leg.”

Anyone who can use the leg should contact Veterans In Focus at veteransinfocus@kristv.com. In early February, we will give the requests to Titus, who will then choose a recipient. Veterans In Focus will have an update to this story then.
