CCAD's 1st female Sergeant Major is retiring

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Army Depot's first female Sergeant Major is retiring.

Sergeant Major Patricia A. Wahl has an extensive military career.

As a Sergeant Major at CCAD, she was senior enlisted advisor to the commanding officer. Before that, she served with Military Assistance Program and Security Co-operations Sergeant Major at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan; Brigade Operations Sergeant Major 101st, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Command Sergeant Major of 327th Aviation Battalion, Ft Hood Texas; and has served 5 combat tours serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

She also managed to receive several awards since enlisting in the Army in 1991.

According to the official CCAD website, Wahl's awards include the Bronze Star Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (7 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi and Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Master Senior Aviation Badge.

Wahl's Relinquishment of Responsibility and Retirement Ceremony will take place Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Her position will be filled in January of 2021.
