CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — Senator John Cornyn was in town today getting a look at a program that is helping rebuild South Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

It's called the Rebuild Texas Carpentry Skills Program put on by Del Mar College.

It's a free 10 week program that teaches students the skills needed to work in construction.

Cornyn says this program can not only help Harvey victims, but the rest of the state by training much needed skilled workers.

“Now as we look at this program we need to think about how we can keep it growing.” said Cornyn “Because I'm confident the need for skilled labor is not going to go away.”
