Earth Day Bay Day celebrates 20th anniversary

Coastal Bend residents are invited to the Earth Day Bay Day, the 20th anniversary of the first festival dedicated about preserving our environment.

The event will take from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park.

 

Free family fun will be provided as the event celebrates 20 years of the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation providing an important educational and outreach festival.   Since 2000, the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation (CBBF) has hosted this local event to promote and encourage citizens to learn about the bays and estuaries, wetlands, native plants and animals, recycling, sustainability, conservation and other environmental issues.  An estimated 10,000 visitors attend each year.

New this year will include an OmniGlobe with museum quality exhibits of our planet’s climate systems. Green Technology Expo features various alternative energy opportunities in the Coastal Bend, small drone demonstrations, STEM Career highlights in the region and 20 years of Earth Day Bay Day Art Exhibit featuring original art from Veterans Memorial High School.

Other events will include a catch and release fish tank, rock wall climbing, native animal exhibitions and presentations Texas Parks & Wildlife and Victoria Zoo, science experiments, bird of prey demonstrations, entertainment, food, fun and much more. Many earth-friendly exhibitors and giveaways will also be on hand.
