The Ray Texans boys basketball team are now without their assistant basketball coach, Ryan Cervantes. Cervantes just signed with Taft High School on Wednesday, June 27th.
Cervantes was with the Ray Texans for 5 seasons. Texans finished the 2018 season 25-12 overall, and 9-1 in district/zone play to finish 2nd in 30-5A.
Cervantes says he had been hoping for this opportunity and he’s just excited everything worked out with Taft. He says this is the best news he’s had all summer. Cervantes hopes to bring a lot to the Greyhound basketball program in the fall, "they’re gonna understand, they’re gonna see first hand that they’re gonna get a guy who’s excited to be there, who wants to be there and who wants to help them grow, not only just as a basketball team but as young men and as a community as well."
Coach Cervantes says his first day to report is July 25, he plans to be at open workouts throughout the summer.
