SMYRNA, Tn. — A Tennessee father is charged in the death of his 3-year-old son who was left in a sweltering hot car.

Levsque Palmer has been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect.

His bond is set at $50,000.

Smyrna police say three-year-old Daylin Palmer was left in a car for about two hours and died of heatstroke Thursday.

Detectives and the attorney's office are looking into what happened and why the child was left.

Neighbors say they want the family to know they're thinking about them.

"I feel really sad and remorseful for the family. I wish there were something that I could do. I would never say that I understand because I've never lost a child, that's something I never want to experience."
