CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With high school football two a days just a few weeks away, it’s never too early to talk football.

And it just so happens that former University of Texas star quarterback Todd Dodge is bringing his quarterback and receivers camp back to Gregory-Portland next week.

Dodge is currently the head coach at Austin Westlake, where he has led the Chaps to three regional titles and one state runner-up.

He won four state titles at Southlake Carroll.

He's been running this camp for 27 years including this one last year at Gregory-Portland.

The camp starts Monday and runs through Wednesday for kids who are incoming fifth graders all the way up to 12th grade.

Since nearly 70 percent of all Texas high school football teams have gone to the spread offense, Gregory Portland head coach Rick Rhoades says now more than ever is a good time to sharpen your game.

“They are going to get some great fundamentals from some great coaches,” Rhoades said. “He is bringing a handful of coaches from his staff along with some coaches from around South Texas working the camp.

“But the thing about Coach Dodge, he has worked with some great quarterbacks. He worked with Greg McElroy at Alabama when they won a national title. He coached Sam Ehlinger before he went to UT. He has coached some great quarterbacks and he has great fundamentals that he teaches not only quarterbacks but receivers as well.”

Here’s some information about the camp:
