COLUMBUS — Ohio State defensive end Chase Young will not play on Saturday against Maryland due to a possible NCAA issue from 2018 that the school's athletic department is looking at, ESPN reports.
Young, who has emerged as a possible Heisman candidate, posted 13.5 sacks for the No. 1 Buckeyes during their 8-0 start. He also has tied Ohio State's single-game records for sacks and tackles for loss in the team’s last game over Wisconsin.
The exact details about the potential NCAA violation remains unclear at this time.
On Twitter, Young admitted that he "made a mistake last year by accepting a loan from a family friend I've known since the summer before my freshman year at OSU."
Young said he repaid the loan in full last summer and he's working with the university and NCAA to get back on the field.
this time.
