CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M-Corpus Christi notched its first victory of the season with a 63-55 triumph over UT-Rio Grande Valley Sunday at the American Bank Center.
Jashawn Talton had a game-high 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Islanders (1-4.) UTRGV (1-4) dropped its third straight game.
The tough Islander defense limited the Vaqueros to 37.3% shooting. The Islanders lead for most of the game, UTRGV's last advantage was at 9 to 8 with 14:39 left in the first half.
Islanders outrebounded UTRGV, 45-25.
